Clay Bar Treatment
+$50
Even after a thorough wash, paint surfaces retain microscopic bonded contaminants — iron particles from brake dust, industrial fallout, rail dust, and embedded road grime — that give the surface a rough, sandpaper-like texture you can feel with the back of your hand. A clay bar is a specially formulated polymer that, when worked across a lubricated panel, physically encapsulates and lifts these particles without scratching the clear coat. The result is a surface that is genuinely clean at a molecular level, which is required before applying any wax, sealant, or ceramic coating.

When You Need This
Run the back of a clean hand across your washed paint — if it feels rough or gritty, the surface has bonded contamination that clay bar will remove. It is a mandatory prep step before any paint protection service (wax, sealant, or ceramic coating), since contaminants trapped under a coating prevent proper bonding and cause premature failure. It is also the required first step before paint correction, and is recommended for any vehicle that hasn't been decontaminated in over a year.
What's Involved
- 1.Perform a thorough two-bucket hand wash and rinse to remove all loose dirt before any clay contact.
- 2.Spray a generous amount of clay lubricant onto a small section of the paint surface — never use a dry clay bar.
- 3.Glide the clay bar in straight, overlapping passes across the lubricated section, allowing it to encapsulate contaminants.
- 4.Wipe away lubricant residue with a clean microfiber towel and run your hand across the surface to check for remaining roughness.
- 5.Wipe completed panels with an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution to strip any remaining clay lubricant oils, leaving a completely clean surface ready for protection or correction.
