Glass Polish

+$125

Hard water deposits, environmental fallout, and worn wiper blades leave etched mineral stains and fine scratches in automotive glass that no glass cleaner can remove — they require abrasive polishing. This service uses cerium oxide-based compounds, the same material used in optical glass finishing, to gently abrade and dissolve these contaminants at a microscopic level and restore factory clarity. After polishing, a hydrophobic glass sealant is applied to all exterior glass to repel water, reduce nighttime glare from oncoming lights, and keep the glass cleaner between washes.

Glass Polish

When You Need This

Add glass polish if you have water spots that will not wipe off, hazy patches that reduce visibility in direct sun or at night, or light scratches from wiper blades dragging grit across the surface. It is an important preparatory step before a ceramic coating on glass, ensuring a clean, uncontaminated surface for proper bonding. It is also recommended after any paintwork that involved sanding or buffing, since polishing compounds can deposit residue on adjacent glass.

What's Involved

  1. 1.Mask surrounding paint and trim to protect against compound splatter during machine work.
  2. 2.Clean all glass surfaces with an automotive glass cleaner to remove loose contamination.
  3. 3.Apply a cerium oxide glass polish to a foam pad and work in overlapping passes at low machine speed, focusing on water-spotted and scratched areas.
  4. 4.Wipe away residue with a clean microfiber towel and inspect the glass in direct sunlight and from multiple angles for remaining defects.
  5. 5.Apply a hydrophobic glass sealant to all exterior glass surfaces for water-beading protection and improved clarity in rain.
